Border thrashed Namibia by an innings and 119 runs to wrap up their CSA 3-Day Challenge match before lunch on Saturday.

After dismissing Namibia for 182 in their first innings, Border took control of the match with a great batting display, as they declared their first innings at 428/6.

Burton de Wett led the way with a double century, scoring 201 off 216 balls (16x4, 6x6), while Somila Seyibokwe added 98 runs (11x4).

The two added a third wicket partnership of 206 runs, scoring at nearly 5 runs an over.

Border held the upper hand at the end of the first day’s play of their CSA 3-Day match against Namibia in Windhoek on Thursday.

Border dismissed Namibia for 182 runs in their first innings and at stumps had scored 40 for no loss of wickets.

Namibia won the toss and elected to bat but their innings got off to a poor start as Wayne Raw was run out for a duck off the first ball he faced.

Things got worse as Gerhard Erasmus (2), Nicolaas Scholtz (0) and Pikki Ya France (14) were all dismissed cheaply and when LP van der Westhuizen was out for 16 Namibia had crashed to 57/5.

Unam Strikers won Cricket Namibia’s Second League T20 trophy on Saturday when they defeated FNB WHS Old Boys Cricket Club II by 34 runs.

Strikers batted first and did not get off to the best of starts.

Their first three wickets fell for only 11 runs, but skipper Gareth Cloete (26) and Dickson Vambe (36*) revived their innings and helped them post a modest total of 118/7, that seemed not to be enough.

WHS’s opening bowlers shared five wickets between them with Kimmie Khan taking 2/21 and Christo Greef 3/18.

Namibia’s cricket team remains rooted to the bottom of the Cricket South Africa log following their 96-run defeat against Eastern Province over the weekend.

Namibia received four bonus points to move up to 51,78 points after nine matches, while second-from-bottom Griqualand West are on 56,02 points.

Eastern Province, meanwhile, took over at the top of the log after receiving 16,34 bonus points for their victory against Namibia.

They now lead the log with 97,22 points, followed by Boland on 89,18 and South Western Districts on 87,28 points.

Eastern Province completed the double over Namibia when they won their T20 match by 13 runs on Sunday.

After scoring 135/5 off their 20 overs, EP’s bowlers never allowed Namibia into the match as they were restricted the home side to 122 for six wickets off their 20 overs.

David White was EP’s hero, scoring 71 runs off 69 balls, while he received good support from Colin Ackerman who scored 22.

For Namibia, Bernard Scholtz took two wickets for 20 runs, while Louis Klazinga and LP van der Westhuizen each took one wicket.

Eastern Province completed a comfortable 96-run victory in their Three-Day Challenge match against Namibia at the Wanderers field on Saturday.

EP declared their second innings at 216/5 setting Namibia a winning target of 305 which proved to be too much as Namibia were all out for 208.

EP made a brisk start in their second innings with all their top order batsmen piling on the runs. David White scored 47, JJ Smuts 50 and Colin Ackerman 67 not out as EP declared at 216 for 5 wickets, leaving Namibia a victory target of 305 runs.

Eastern Province were well in command of their 3-day Challenge against Namibia on Friday as they set the home side a victory target of 305 runs. At stumps Namibia were 18 for one wicket, still 287 runs short of victory.

Starting the day at 68/5 in reply to EP’s first innings total of 217, Namibia’s batsmen failed to stem the tide as wickets fell regularly.

Sarel Burger was first to go for 13, while Christi Viljoen could only score one before being caught behind.

Namibia could only post a modest score of 113 for 9 wickets off their 20 overs andKZN Inland reached the winning target for the loss of five wickets with eight balls to spare.

Most of Namibia’s batsmen were dismissed cheaply as they went for big shots.

LP van der Westhuizen was out for 5, Stephan Baard scored a duck and Craig Williams a golden duck as Namibia crashed to 14/3 off 4 overs.
