Keetmanshoop to host boxing championships

The Southern town of Keetmanshoop is to host the 2007 Namibia Senior Boxing Championships slated for December 12-15. Kelly Nghixulifwa, President of the Namibia Amateur Boxing Federation (NABF), confirmed this at a media conference on Monday, 26 November 2007.

Namibiaâ??s WBA intercontinental lightweight champion Paulus â??The Hitmanâ?? Moses and Pan African Junior welterweight champion, Jason â??Taksâ?? Naule pulled off sensational victories in Ongwediva on Saturday evening, when they both defeated their Zimbabweanâ??s opponents in the second round.

Namibia to host Olympic Games boxing qualifying tournament

Namibia will host the second and final African boxing qualifying competition for the 2008 Olympic Games in March 2008.
This was said by the Namibian Amateur Boxing Federation president Kelly Nghixulifwa at a press conference in Windhoek on November 5.

Boxing Bonanza for Ongwediva

The Northern town of Ongwediva will be the centre of attraction on November 10 when the Nestor Sunshine Tobias and Fitness Academy hosts its Boxing Bonanza there.

In action will be Namibiaâ??s WBA inter-continental champion Paulus â??The Hitmanâ?? Moses, who will trade blows with ZimbabweÅ? Ephraim Mangenda in a ten round lightweight bout. It will be the main bout of the evening and will be supported by nine other bouts on the undercard, involving some of Namibiaâ??s top professional boxers.

Meroro wins in style

Vikapita Meroro got back to winning ways in dramatic fashion when he beat Edward Nhundu of Zimbabwe on a first round technical knockout at the Windhoek Country Club on October 13.
Meroro had suffered his first defeat as a professional boxer in his previous fight against Stan Kanislov of the Ukraine, but he was in awesome form to overpower Nhundu and notch up his ninth victory in 10 professional fights.

Tobias calls for financial support

Local boxing promoter, Nestor Tobias, has appealed to the corporate world in Namibia to come to their rescue in their bid to host the World Boxing Association (WBA) Lightweight title fight.

Namibiaâ??s Paulus â??The Hitmanâ? Moses gave a brilliant display to knock out Andrei Kudriavtsev of the Ukraine in the ninth round of their WBA Intercontinental Lightweight title fight in Donetsk, Ukraine on Tuesday night.

Simon receives his medal

Johannes â??Baluka`â? Simon finally received his All Africa Games bronze medal in Windhoek on Monday.

Simon reached the semifinals of the flyweight category at the All Africa Games in Algeria, before losing on points to an Algerian opponent. As a losing semifinalist, Simon however still won a bronze medal â?? one of only three medals that Namibia won at the Games. Middle distance athlete Agnes Samaria won Namibiaâ??s other two medals - a silver in the 800m and a bronze medal in the 1 500m.

Kaperu loses to Pambeni

Namibian featherweight champion Siegfried Kaperu suffered his fourth defeat as a professional when he lost on points to Zimbabweâ??s Peter Pambeni at the Telecom Box â??n Dine on Saturday night.
Kaperu was outjabbed by Pambeni, who was quicker to the punch and managed to stay out of reach of Kaperuâ??s blows with some quick footwork.

Shihepo batters Mharidzo into submission

Wilbeforce Shihepo gave a display of awesome power when he beat Tinei Mhardizo of Zimbabwe on a fourth round technical knockout on Saturday.

Shihepoâ??s fight was the main curtain raiser for the Pan African Junior Welterweight title fight between Jason Naule and Pius Dipheko and Shihepo once again did not disappoint his fans.
