Indongo to top Walvis Bay Bonanza

Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo will be the main attraction when he takes on Nelson Banda of Zambia in a non-title fight over 10 rounds at the Kuisebmund Hall in Walvis Bay on Saturday night.

Indongo is still unbeaten after 13 professional fights while Banda has a record of six wins, two defeats and one draw.

There will be several other interesting match-ups on the undercard, with the popular Mandume Pohamba taking on Tommy Hango in a welterweight fight over 10 rounds.

Shidjuu loses in Ghana

Abmerk Shidjuu lost his featherweight fight against Isaac Quaye of Ghana on points over 10 rounds on Sunday.

The fight, which was an eliminator for a Commonwealth title, took place at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana.

The fight was supposed to take place on Friday, April 26, but due to a flight delay, it could only be held two days later.

A win would have qualified Shidjuu to fight for the commonwealth title held by Chris Edward of Liverpool, UK.

According to a press release issued by the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy, Shidjuu was robbed of a victory.

Boxing Bonanza for Walvis Bay

Professional boxing goes to the coast next month when Julius “Blue Machine” Indongo will top the bill in an international non title fight against Herbert Nkabiti of Botswana on May 11.

The unbeaten Indongo will face a tough task against 32-year-old Nkabiti who is also unbeaten after nine fights with eight wins and a draw.

He is based in Johannesburg and started his professional boxing career quite late, at the age of 28.

Shindjuu to fight in Ghana

Abmerk Shindjuu will take on Isaac Quaye of Ghana in a Commonwealth title eliminator in Ghana, Accra on Friday, 26 April.

The fight will be the main bout at the Accra sports stadium.

Shindjuu left Namibia on will leave the country on Wednesday along with one of the MTC Nestor Sunshine Academy coaches, Joseph Anhindi.

“Shindjuu is ready for the fight and we believe he will win the fight. They will return on the 28th April 2013 to Namibia,” said Nestor Tobias.

Naidjala lays down challenge in Botswana

Immanuel Naidjala made a confident debut in Gaborone on Wednesday when he met up with Leslie Sekotswe to promote their upcoming rematch in Windhoek on the 5th of July.

He vowed to beat Sekotswe to win the IBF International Bantamweight title in the rematch after their first fight ended in a draw and the title remained vacant.

Immanuel “Prince” Naidjala will meet Botswana’s Leslie Sekotswe in a rematch for the IBF International Bantamweight title at the Windhoek Country Club on July 5.

This was confirmed by the International Boxing Federation’s Africa President Onesmo Ngowi after recent visits to Namibia and Botswana.

The first encounter between the two boxers on March 20 ended in a draw after one judge scored it 116-112 in favour of Sekotswe, another 119-107 in favour of Naidjala and a third a 115-115 draw.

Hilongwa wins WBF International Super Flyweight title

Joseph Hilongwa beat South Africa’s Sibusiso Twani in a close fight to capture the vacant WBF International Super Flyweight title on Friday night.

Hilongwa won the 12-round fight on a unanimous decision with the three judges scoring the fight 118-110, 115-113, 116-112.

Hilongwa took the fight to Twani from the start and kept up the pressure with infighting from close quarters.

Twani countered with an effective jab but was sucked into a close-fought encounter as Hilongwa gave him little room to manouvre.

Joseph ‘Smokey’ Hilongwa will make his long awaited return to the boxing ring when he takes on Sibusiso Twani of South Africa for the WBF International Super Flyweight title on Friday night.

Hilongwa is still unbeaten as a pro fighter with a record of 11 wins from 11 fights and one no contest, but he has not fought since July 2011.

At a press conference in Windhoek on Wednesday, he however said he was in good shape and ready for the fight.

Naidjala, Sekotswe draw

Immanuel Naidjala and Leslie Sekotswe of Botswana drew their IBF International Bantamweight fight in the early hours of Thursday morning with the result that the title remains vacant.

After 12 rounds of boxing one judge scored it 116-112 in favour of Sekotswe, one scored it 119-107 in favour of Naidjala and one scored it 115-115 as the fight ended in a draw.

Naidjala was rather lucky to come away with a draw as Sekotswe landed more punches with a constant jab while he also had the better of the exchanges on the ropes.

Hilongwa back in action

Joseph Smoky Hilongwa will top the bill when he takes on Sibusiso Twani of South Africa for the WBF International Super Flyweight title at the Windhoek Country Club on March 29.

Besides appearing on the bill, Hilongwa is also a joint promoter of the boxing bonanza through his Warriors Promotions which will promote the bonanza along with Kinda Promotions. The bonanza will be sponsored by Telecom Namibia.

Hilongwa is still unbeaten after 11 fights, of which one was a no contest, while Twani has a record of 11 wins and 3 defeats.
