South African, Zimbabwean and Madagascan players dominated proceedings at the Southern African Junior Tennis Championships in Windhoek on Monday, January 15.
In the Boys Under 16 category the top seeded Admire Mushonga of Zimbabwe beat Thierry Rakotoarivony of Madagascar 6-0, 6-3, while the fourth seeded Jason Blakey Milner of South Africa beat Charlie Bohloko of Lesotho 6-1, 6-0.

As the host country, Namibia has been allowed to enter 16 players, while the other participating countries will be represented by eight players each.
Davin sisters die in motorcar accident

Janine and Suzelle Davin were on their way to Swakopmund when they collided with a Toyota Corolla outside Langstrand.
Ghouse wins ITF Futures title

It was a tight final that could have gone either way, but in the end the fourth-seeded Ghouseâ??s patience and experience told as the unseeded Greek started making too many unforced errors in the final set.
Unseeded Greek to meet Ghouse in final

Gemouchides, who had to qualify to make the main draw, went on a giant killing run to reach the final.
Strydom reaches doubles semifinals

In the singles competition, Strydom defeated Gregory Howe in the first round but was eliminated by an experienced and confident 26-year-old Mustafa Ghouse from India in the second round with a score of 6/3, 6/2.

Strydom, the 10th seed, went down 3-6, 4-6 to Mustafa Ghouse of India, the tournamentâ??s fourth seed.

The tournament will run from October 9 to 14 and will feature players from countries such as Italy, Romania, France, Sweden, India, Russia, Tunisia, the USA, the UK, Morocco, Korea, Tunisia, South Africa, Botswana and the Czech Republic. Namibiaâ??s Jurgens Strydom is ranked number 10 for the tournament and has been accepted directly into the main draw. Strydom is ranked 1273 in the world.
Upsets at Nashua Junior masters tournament

There were a number of upsets in the tournament. In the Girlsâ?? Under 14 category, Terry Olivier beat Lere Niewoudt, after the number one seed Meike Woermann was eliminated by Niewoudt in the semifinals.
