100 days to Paralympic Games

The 2012 Paralympic Games will take place in 100 days time. To mark the event, the British High Commission in Namibia issued the following press release:

In 100 days’ time, the most watched, most accessible and most integrated Paralympics of all time will begin in London.

This is the second time the UK will have hosted the Paralympics, and our country is now recognised as having started the Paralympic movement.

Proud Benade arrives home

Reginald Benade

Namibian athlete Reginald Benade who won a bronze medal at the Paralympic Games in Beijing, returned home to a heroes welcome on Friday.
There were not too many people who welcomed him back, but those who were present made him feel like a national hero.
The president of the Namibia National Olympic Committee Agnes Tjongarero, the Chef de Mission of the Namibian team to Beijing, Joan Smit and Walter Haseb of the Namibia Sport Commission were some of the officials who were on hand to welcome Benade back at Hosea Kutako International Airport.
