JS Academy White shines in Galz & Goals league

JS Academy White won both of their matches in the Under15 Galz and Goals league on Saturday 7 August.

In their first match the JS Academy White team beat SKW 2-1 with goals from Emma Naris and Brumelda Cloete. The first goal came in the first half. SKW equalised early in the second half and then in the dying minutes Cloete scored the second goal for the JS Academy to give them the win.

SKW however soon got back to winning ways when they beat JS Academy yellow 1-0 in their next match.

Namibian Pumpkins, Theo Katjimune set the pace

More than 100 young school girls turned out for Galz & Goals soccer matches at the Eldorado Field in Khomasdal on July 31, with five matches taking place in the Under 13 league and one in the Under 15 league.

Theo Katjimune Primary School and Namibian Pumpkins both recorded big victories against Pioniers Park in the Galz and Goals Under 13 league.

Namibian Pumpkins beat Pioniers Park 6-0 while Theo Katjimune beat them by the same score.

Theo Katjimune also beat the Spanish Pumpkins 3-0 but were held to a 1-1 draw by Eros Primary.

The NFA Galz & Goals youth team returned from the Hessequa Cup this week with two trophies and a lot of new friends.

The Namibia Under 16 girls’ football team was victorious in both the 6-a-side and 11-a-side tournaments held in the town of Riversdale, Western Cape last week, not conceding a single goal throughout.

The team, selected from girls aged 10-15 involvied in the NFA Galz & Goals project won both competitions in style, beating the local Ha! Qua Fillies team 7-0 in the 11-a-side and Panorama FC 3-0 in the 6-a-side finals.

The Namibian Galz & Goals U15 soccer team took top honors at the Hessequa Cup tournament which was recently held at Riverville in South Africa’s Western Cape province.

The event which coincided with the latter stages of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, started on July 3 and ended on the final day of the FIFA World Cup with the Namibian team of Under 15 girls winning gold in the six-a side and 11-a side girls categories.

Galz & Goals Youth Team to compete in South Africa

The NFA Galz & Goals youth team are due to leave for South Africa on July to compete in the Hessequa Cup, taking with them their message of girls making smart choices for a healthy life.

The Namibia Under 16 girls’ football team will come into a week long training camp at Soccer House on Friday evening. The team will be preparing for their trip to South Africa on July 1st where they will compete in the Hessequa Cup.

NFA Gals and Goals Youth League kicks off

The 2010 season of the NFA Galz and Goals Youth league kicked off recently in Windhoek at El Dorado High School.

The first matches of the league, which is in its second year, were played on June 19 with seven teams taking part in the under 13 age group and eight teams in the under 15 age group.

More teams joined the league in the second week, 25-26 June, with the Under 13 teams increasing to thirteen teams.

On 25 June the Under 16 girls played two matches each with SKW and Hage Geingob High School playing to a 1-1 draw in the first match.

More than 1 200 Galz play in NFA Summer Festivals

The Namibia Football Association’s Galz & Goals project has attracted a staggering total of over 1 200 girls playing in Under 13 and Under 15 football tournaments and trained 92 coaches at five regional festivals this summer. The festivals aim to create interest for regional leagues beginning in March 2010, training coaches and the girls themselves on Healthy Lifestyles along the way.
