Western Suburbs started the rugby season on a high note when they beat the defending champions Wanderers 48-38 in the MTC Premier League at their home ground, Suburbs Park on Saturday.
The teams weighed up evenly in the forward exchanges, but Suburbsâ?? fleet-footed backline and the accurate goalkicking by fullback McGrath van Wyk ultimately made the difference.

Submitted by editor on Sun, 03/11/2007 - 10:24.A last minute try by Christo Steenkamp saw United come from behind to beat Wanderers 21-18 in their annual derby at the Wanderers field on Saturday.
Wanderers had seemed to secure victory when flanker Wolfie Duvenhage barged over for a try from a lineout, with only three minutes remaining, but United refused to surrender and immediately attacked from the kickoff. They took play into Wanderersâ?? quarter, and when they won second phase possession and spun the ball down the backline, centre Steenkamp cut through Wanderersâ?? defence to dive over under the posts.
Namibia to play the Springboks

The South African Sunday newspaper Rapport reported that Namibia will play the Springboks at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in the Polokwane area of Limpopo province on August 15.
Reho Falcon win MTC Club Championships

Both teams had try-scoring opportunities, but handling errors and poor options saw the chances going astray.
Namibia to play in IRB Nations Cup

The Nations Cup is an international representative competition that involves a blend of Tier 1 A teams and Tier 2 and Tier 3 teams.
SWD too slick for Namibia

After a young and inexperienced Namibian team lost the first encounter 64-7 on Wednesday, Namibian coach Johan Venter selected a more experienced team for the second encounter.

It was a young Namibian team which was selected after trial matches the previous Saturday, and their inexperience was quickly exposed.

Namibia won the first leg encounter 25-7 in Windhoek on October 28, and then put in a superb performance to beat Morocco 27-8 in Casablanca on November 11.

It was a great match that saw the lead changing several times and Namibia can be pleased with its performance against a team comprising of some of South Africaâ??s top young talent.
