Namibian teams get mixed results on first day of hockey tournament
Submitted by newsdesk on Fri, 08/20/2010 - 18:17.Namibian teams put in a mixed performance on the first day of the Momentum International Hockey Challenge at the Doc Jubber Hockey Fields in Windhoek on Friday.
The Namibia B senior team went down 5-1 to the Zimbabwean men’s team. Nick Simpson drew first blood for the Zimbabweans when he scored in the 12th minute of the match, but Les Campbell equalised for Namibia 5 minutes later.
From then on however, it was one way traffic as Zimbabwe took control of the match, with players like Pablo, Donny and Doco turning on the style with some great ball skills.

Zimbabwe beat Namibia 2-0 in a Senior Men’s encounter on Sunday, to wrap up the series after the two nations played to a goalless draw in their opening match on Saturday.
Zimbabwe were also the overall winners of the Momentum International Hockey Challenge after the won five of the seven age group categories that were contested between the two nations.
In the second encounter on Sunday, Zimbabwe put Namibia under pressure from the start as Nick Simpson and Doco Mvkwewa both shot wide from early attacks.
