Disappointing day for Namibiaâ??s shottists

Namibiaâ??s shottists have also been struck by the flu virus and posted disappointing scores after two days of competition.
Jan Nel and Sven Ahrens, who participated in the Clay Target Olympic Trap discipline, could only manage average scores on July 16. Nel shot rounds of 14, 17 and 18 out of 25, while Ahrens shot rounds of 16, 17 and 20 out of 25.

Consistent performances by swimmers

Namibian swimmers put in consistent performances at the All Africa Games on Monday, July 16.
None of them could reach a final, but Byron Briedenhann and Corinna Wahl set new personal best times, while all the other swimmers came close to their personal best times.

Top performances by McDonald and relay team

Tristan McDonald headed a list of strong performances by Namibian swimmers at the All Africa Games on July 14.
McDonald made the 200m backstroke final in a new personal best time of 2:20,80, which beat his previous best of 2:22,77.

Kasuto easily wins first fight

Namibian welterweight Desmond Kasuto easily won his first round bout at the All Africa Games on July 15.
Kasuto beat Bourama Sidibe of Mali 28-8 to progress to the quarterfinals of the welterweight category.

Homateni eliminated in first round

Namibian wrestler Johannes Homateni was eliminated in the first round of the 55kg Greco Roman style at the All Africa Games on July 15.
Fighting in the 55kg category, Homateni lost 7-0 on points to Thierry Madundu of the Congo.

Naidjala in classy win

Immanuel Naidjala gave a great all-round display to convincingly beat Antebicha Duguma of Ethiopia 29-12 on points in a bantamweight bout at the All Africa Games on July 14.
Moving well, Naidjala started off with some quick jabs and hooks, but the Ethiopian also landed some solid blows towards the end of the first round, which Naidjala shaded.

Disaster strikes for Namibian cyclists

It was a disastrous day for Namibia at the cycling road race on Saturday, July 14, as only Ananias Ananias managed to complete the race, way down the field.
Namibiaâ??s main hope for a medal, Erik Hoffmann crashed out of the race on the fifth of nine laps, while Jacques Celliers, Ermin van Wyk, Lotto Petrus and Tjipe Murangi all fell out along the way.

Jacob is well beaten

Trevor Jacob was well beaten by Kabore Sibri Jules of Burkina Faso, losing his light heavyweight bout 17-3 on points at the All Africa Games on July13.
Jacobs moved too slowly and couldnâ??t connect with his punches, while Jules raked in the points with his long jab.

Indongo in explosive form

Namibian lightweight boxer Julius Indongo was in explosive form against Gaasite Gomdtsang of Botswana on July 13, winning the fight on a third round technical knock out.
He attacked from the start and raked in the points with fast combinations to take a 12-3 lead by the end of the first round.
