Botswana take the lead against Namibia

Botswana took an early lead against Namibia in their tennis Group B encounter on July 2.
Namibiaâ??s top ranked male player, Jurgens Strydom suffered a surprise defeat against Botswanaâ??s number one, Bokong Setshogo. Strydom won the first set 6-4, but then Bokong took control, winning the next two sets 6-3, 6-3.

Kilombo beats Simon in close encounter

The semi-finals of the boxing tournament at the SADC Youth Games were concluded with some thrilling bouts on July 2.
In probably the best bout of the evening, Merlin Kilombo of Angola beat Johannes Simon of Namibia by a single point over four rounds in the 54kg category.

South Africa beat Lesotho

South Africaâ??s Under 20 soccer team beat Lesotho 3-0 to qualify for the semifinals of the competition.
South Africa took control from the start with two quick goals in the opening 15 minutes.
Striker Sibosiso Ntuli opened the scoring with a neat lob over Lesothoâ??s goalie in the 8th minute and barly three minutes later their captain Excellent Walaza made it 2-0 after a quick exchange of passes with Thulani Maseko.

Zambia beat Botswana

Zambia moved into second position in the menâ??s basketball competition after beating Botswana 132-75 on July 2.
Zambia were in control from the start, leading 36-21 at the end of the first quarter and 69-41 at halftime. By the end of the third quarter they had stretched their lead to 91-54.

Boxing semi-finals get underway

The first semi-finals of the SAC Youth Games boxing competition took place at the A Shipena School in Katutura on July 1.
In the 57kg category Namibiaâ??s Abraham Ndaendapo beat Alex Ngiandu of Zambia on points, while Eliah Masokotso of Botswana beat Lucky Motaung of South Africa on points in a close bout.

Zambia win game of few scoring chances

The Zambian mens soccer team at the Zone VI Youth Games today overcame arch-rivals Zimbabwe by the narrowest of scorelines of 1-0 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek.
The game saw few clear cut scoring chances with the best of these falling to the Zambian side.

South Africa win netball gold

South Africa beat Namibia 44-28 to win the gold medal in the netball competition at the SADC Youth Games on July 1.
South Africa were just too sharp and quick and never gave Namibia a chance in an action packed match in front of about 300 vociferous fans at the Katutura Multipurpose Youth Centre.

South Africa remain unbeaten

South Africa beat Zimbabwe 4-0 to remain unbeaten in the tennis competition at the SADC Youth Games on July 1.
The only other unbeaten team, Namibia, however drew 3-all against Lesotho and at the time of going to press the organisers were still trying to decide who should win the tie.

Namibia beat Zambia in thriller

Namibia beat Zambia 58-57 in a thrilling womenâ??s basketball match at the SADC Youth Games on July 1.
There was nothing to separate the teams from the start, with Zambia winning the first quarter 14-13. Namibia however fought back to take a 32-30 lead at halftime, and at the end of the third quarter Namibia held a slight 44-43 lead.

Zimbabwe rebounds with convincing win against Angola

The Zimbabwean menâ??s soccer team at the Zone VI Youth Games rebounded today from their 2-1 loss against Botswana two days ago to record a convincing 2-0 win against a gutsy and skillful Angolan team at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia.
