With the 2005/06 soccer season over, the focus now moves to the traditional winter sports. Rugby is in full swing, while the field hockey league got underway last weekend.

The northern town of Outjo will hold a rugby festival on Saturday, June 17 where some of Namibiaâ??s top current and former players will be in action. Matches are scheduled for the whole day, starting at 07h00, while the main match between a Namibian Old Boys team and WC Knight United will start at 14h30.

The MTC Namibia Premier League champions could be decided this weekend with Civics a mere five points away from regaining their title.
They lead Ramblers by five points and with only three matches remaining for both teams, Civics look like the favourites to retain their title.

MTC NFA Cup semifinals

The MTC NFA Cup takes centre stage this weekend with the semifinals scheduled to take place at Walvis Bayâ??s Kuisebmond Stadium on Saturday, May 6.
Last weekendâ??s quarterfinals produced several upsets with favourites Civics and Blue Waters both knocked out. With Eleven Arrows also losing to Cymot SKW, there will be no Walvis Bay teams in action and it will be anybodyâ??s guess who will progress to the finals.

Friday, April 14, sees The Namibian Newspaper Cup kick off at the Kuisebmond Stadium at the coast. The first game sees last year's finalists Hardap taking on Oshana at 09h00. In all six games are scheduled for Friday. This will determine which teams will compete in the winner's and loser's sections at the tournament. Last year's winner, Otjozondjupa, has a bye on Friday and only enters the fray at the knockout stages.
