The 2008/09 MTC Namibia Premier League finally comes to an end this weekend when the final round of matches will take place throughout Namibia.

African Stars already won the league title and the N$400 000 first prize on Wednesday night when they drew 1-all to Orlando Pirates, but with prize money guaranteed for the top six teams, Saturday’s final matches should still be strongly contested.

Only a point separates Black Africa, SKW and Civics, who will battle it out for the second place cheque of N$180 000.

Brave Warriors under pressure

A depleted Brave Warriors team takes on the DR Congo in the pick of this weekend’s sporting events in Namibia. Seven of the players called up in the original list of 25 pulled out for a variety of reasons ranging from injuries (Michael Pienaar and Lazarus Kaimbi) and absenteeism (Letu Shatimune) to the old club versus country dilemma. Four foreign based players – Wilko and Oliver Risser, Razundara Tjikuzu and Sydney Plaatjies - were withdrawn by their clubs, with the result that Namibia will now only have seven foreign based players and 11 locals in their squad for Saturday’s match.
