The 2012 Total Tara Rally was launched in Windhoek on Wednesday, 3 October 2012. It is the 44th consecutive year that Total is hosting this popular event and it once again promises to entertain many rally enthusiasts.

“It is the toughest event on the Namibian international calendar,” said Sanet Mohrmann, Key Accounts Manager of Total Namibia. Rally competitors will complete 266km in stages and the total distance is 715km.

The event will take place from Thursday, 15 November to Saturday, 17 November 2012 starting with four stages in and around Windhoek at 19:45 on the Thursday.

A total of 71 participants competed in the seventh round of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series co-sponsored by AB Construction, CRP Construction and Namibia Technical Services at Uis over the past weekend.

“With the end of the season approaching it is very encouraging to see this kind of attendance as the financial cost of taking part in the series can take its toll on many riders”, said Riaan van Rooyen, Head of Corporate Communication and Social Investment at Bank Windhoek.

This past weekend saw the sixth round of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series at the Tony Rust race course. The event was co-sponsored by Chelsea Fashion.

A big turnout of 70 competitors lined up to take on the obstacles and conditions that the organizers and nature put in their way.

In the Class 2 battle, Claude Brendel stepped up the pace and took the podium to narrow the points lead held by Kai Hennes.

In the Open National class, Henner Rusch made a comeback changing to the two stroke Husaberg and took victory on his first race out on the new machine.

Close to 80 enduro riders competed in the fifth round of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series on Saturday, 14 July 2012 at Albrechtshöhe.

The event, which was co-sponsored by Sat-Com, was held on the Meyer farm in the Karibib district, with the competitors lining up to take on the track nicknamed the Rocky Horror race.

The riders showed their commitment to the race, despite the challenging track, and not even the weekend’s cold weather could dampen the competitors’ spirit.

Enduro Series goes to Albrechtshohe

The fifth round of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series will be hosted at Albrechtshöhe this coming Saturday, July 14.

The Albrechtshöhe event is co-sponsored by Sat Com, which is also the supplier and sponsor of timing equipment of the series.

The race will take place on the Meyer farm and will again test the riders in the rocky landscape.

Bank Windhoek sponsors Azurite Rally

Through a sponsorship of Bank Windhoek, the Azurite rally in Tsumeb will continue to excite spectators with daring motoring skills of the country’s top rally drivers. The annual Azurite rally will take place on Saturday, 7 July in and around Tsumeb.

The rally will start at 08h30 at the Minen Hotel, while the first car will start the first stage at 08h35 from “Donkievlakte”.

The Bank Windhoek Azurite rally will again include sections where the public will have a good view of the action.

Aranos Enduro rocks

Round Four of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series which was held in and around Aranos on Saturday, 9 June, was a huge success with local riders joining the national competitors to take on the red dunes and other obstacles.

A total of 96 riders took part in this event, proving that the number of competitors in the sport has been growing during this year.

Racing got underway in chilly conditions but the riders were soon sweating and fighting it out for the top spot in the different classes.

Enduro Series goes to Aranos

The fourth round of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Series will take place in Aranos on Saturday, 9 June 2012.

The Aranos event is to be held in and around the Aranos area covering ground on several farms on the outskirts of the town.

The Aranos Endurance Club in partnership with the Namibian Enduro Club has put in a great amount of effort to ensure that this event will again be a huge success and that there will be plenty of action for the riders and the spectators.

The first race in the Bank Windhoek Namibia Motorsport Federation Enduro Championship Series 2012 took place on Saturday, 11 February at the Tony Rust race track outside Windhoek.

This event, which was also the first SORC (Southern Off-Road Challenge) event for the year, was co-sponsored by Propshaft Engineering.

A total of 94 riders participated in the race, covering 164 kilometers over rough terrain. The difficulty of the route was evident in the amount of finishers with 19 competitors failing to complete the race and a further 11 managing 75 per cent of the route.

The first race in the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series will take place at the Tony Rust race track this coming Saturday, 11 February 2012.

This event, co-sponsored by Propshaft Engineering, is also the first round of the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme - International Motorcycling Federation) Africa Southern Off-Road Challenge (SORC).

Riders from Zambia, Botswana and South Africa will compete against their Namibian counterparts over rough and very rocky terrain.
