National Bowls Championships in Windhoek

The Namibia National Bowls Championships will take place in Windhoek, starting on Saturday, August 23 and continuing for a week till August 30.

The top bowls player in the country will contest the singles, pairs, trips and fours as well as the Champ of Champs, the Juniors and the Veterans’ titles.
The competition should be tough, especially since there are no clear favourites amongst the men or the women.

Bowls prepares for Commonwealth Games 2010

The Namibian Bowling Association on Wednesday received a financial contribution from Bank Windhoek and the Namibia National Olympic Committee to assist it in its preparations for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

South Africa dominate AST Bowls tournament

South Africa dominated the Bowls African States Tournament, that finished in Windhoek on Thursday, September 27.
South Africa won both the men and womenâ??s overall titles as well as several other gold medals in the various categories.

South Africa, Zimbabwe lead Bowls AST

South Africa and Zimbabwe were fighting it out for supremacy at the halfway stage of the African States Bowls Tournament in Windhoek on Tuesday, September 25.
South Africa won the gold medal in the menâ??s pairs competition after winning all seven their matches, for a total of 14 points.

South Africa beat Namibia

South Africa beat Namibia comfortably in their annual bowls test series in Windhoek over the weekend, but they were pushed all the way by the hosts.
On Saturday, November 11, South Africaâ??s menâ??s team beat Namibia 3-1 while their women also won by the same margin. On Sunday South Africa turned on the pressure, winning both the men and womenâ??s categories 4-0.

Vermeulen wins thrilling bowls final

Ewald Vermeulen of Eros Bowling Club beat Douw Calitz of Windhoek Country Club in a thrilling final to win the men?s title at the Windhoek Closed Singles Bowls Championships on February 27.
Vermeulen beat Calitz by the narrowest of margins, 16 and a half to 16 to qualify for the World Singles Championships, which take place in Australia in November. Calitz, of course, won the World Singles Championships in Australia in 2003.
