Ekandjo, Haikali in war of words

Tim Ekandjo of MTC and Black Africa owner Ranga Haikali have got involved in a war of words regarding branding of soccer teams clothing at Namibia Premier League matches.
Black Africa is sponsored by FNB Namibia and bears their logo on the front of their soccer shirts and not that of the league’s sponsor, MTC.
Speaking at the NPL Awards ceremony on Friday night, Ekandjo said that Black Africa was not sticking to the rules and accused it of showing disrespect to MTC.
Palmgren resigns after serious threats

The President of the Namibia Football Association (NFA) John Muinjo announced the resignation of the Brave Warriors’ head coach Roger Palmgren on Sunday evening.
According to the NFA, Palmgren tendered his resignation with immediate effect this weekend due to 'serious threats' directed towards him and his family, as stated in his resignation letter.
Big wins for Falcons, Rehoboth and United

Reho Falcon, Rehoboth and United all recorded big victories in Round Five of the Namibian Rugby Premier League on Saturday.
In Swakopmund, United got back to winning ways in emphatic fashion as they thrashed Dolphins 64-7.
They led 24-0 at halftime, but stepped up the tempo in the second half to eventually run in 10 tries, with lock Winmar Rust adding 14 points with the boot.
Cosafa Cup focus - Kenya

In our focus on the upcoming Cosafa Cup in July 2013, we bring you a team profile on Kenya.
Kenya will be appearing in their first Cosafa Cup competition as a guest nation and will bring with them some East African flair.
The side are led by coach Adel Amrouche, a Belgian-born tactician who has been with the side since earlier this year.
The side have qualified for the African Nations Cup on five previous occasions, the last in 2004, but have never been past the first round.
They were beaten in the final of their regional CECAFA championship at the end of last year.
Bowls league in full swing

The national bowls league continued last weekend in Tsumeb, Walvis Bay and Swakopmund.
A total of 14 encounters took place over two days in the men’s, women’s and mixed categories.
Four clubs from Windhoek as well as one each from Swakopmund, Tsumeb and Walvis Bay are competing for the titles.
In the men’s league the top three teams all won their recent matches. Log leader Transnamib defeated Tsumeb 29-17 and later the players from the Oshikoto region also lost to Eros 16-20. Transnamib now has 15 points from six rounds, while Eros is third with 12 points.
