Vermeulen rings the changes
Submitted by editor on Wed, 05/08/2013 - 07:16.Welwitschias coach Danie Vermeulen has made six changes to the side that lost 50-39 against the South African Universities last weekend, for their upcoming practise match against South Africa U20 in Stellenbosch on Saturday.
Vermeulen said that he was still experimenting and wanted to give everyone a chance to prove themselves.
“I’m using a rotation policy and I want to give everyone in the squad a chance to prove themselves. We have called up some players who were on the bench last Saturday, with the others moving to the bench,” he said.
Tickets for Bidvest Namibia Cup semis
Submitted by editor on Tue, 05/07/2013 - 23:46.The 2013 Bidvest Namibia Cup semifinals will be played on Saturday 11 May at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek and tickets are available at Computer ticket.
The tickets for the semifinals matches involving African Stars, United Stars, Rundu Chiefs, and Mighty Gunners are going for N$20 each at Computicket at Shoprite and Checkers countrywide until Friday.
On match-day, Saturday 11 May, a ticket will cost you N$30 at Computicket and NFA Soccer House, while at the gate it will be N$50 a ticket.
National Bowls reaches crucial stage
Submitted by editor on Tue, 05/07/2013 - 12:53.The 2013 national bowls championships commenced last Saturday and are currently underway at four different venues in Windhoek.
Action will continue until this coming Saturday, 11 May, when the finals will be played at Eros Bowling Club near the Safari Court Hotel.
The other venues are the Windhoek Bowling Club, the TransNamib Bowling Club and the Bowls facilities at the Windhoek Country Club.
A total of 109 games were played over the opening weekend to determine the finalists in the Pairs competition.
Oshikoto’s Utoni aims high
Submitted by editor on Tue, 05/07/2013 - 08:31.The first ever edition of the Skorpion Zinc U/17 Cup played at in Keetmanshoop over the past weekend saw one hundred goals scored by the youngsters with Oshikoto Region’s Josef Utoni top scoring with 11 goals in six matches.
The youngster from Tsumeb told nfa.org.na that he used the tournament as a stepping stone to greater things in life so that he could one day enjoy his dream of playing top flight football for his boyhood club Black Africa.
Windhoek United take over at the top
Submitted by editor on Tue, 05/07/2013 - 06:58.Windhoek United took over at the top of the Southern Stream First Division log after beating former log leaders Blue Boys 3-1 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Sunday.
Windhoek United dominated possession from the start and took the lead midway through the first half when Blue Boys goalie Abiud Karuuko failed to hold onto a Lucky Uirab shot and midfielder Nelson Hochobeb pounced to put the loose ball into the net.
Just before halftime Echud Pauleno made it 2-0 with a great shot from the edge of the box.
