Strong start by Windhoek Gymnasium

Windhoek Gymnasium made their presence felt with an impressive display in the first round of the Bank Windhoek Schools Netball Super League last Saturday at the Dr. Lemmer Sports Field in Rehoboth.
The private school won both its matches, beating the hosts Dr. Lemmer 70-8 and Windhoek High School (WHS) 48-16.
WHS however managed to beat Dr Lemmer 54-16.
There were also matches taking place in Stampriet where Elnatan Private School hosted Tsumeb Gymnasium, Edugate and Keetmanshoop Private School.
Namibia eighth in Chile

Namibia finished eighth at the Junior World Rugby Trophy in Chile after losing 40-29 to Uruguay in the seventh place playoff on Sunday.
A stronger scrum allowed Uruguay to take an early 20-3 lead and right after halftime, winger Andrés Rocco got his second try, leaving the score at 27-3.
Namibia however did not want to exit with a big loss and got back into the game with passion.
A yellow card proved costly for the eventual winners, who saw their lead reduced to a solitary point after Namibia scored 26 unanswered points thanks to four tries.
Athletes start European tour

Namibian Athletes from the VISION 2016 Athletics Development Program left Namibia last week to compete and prepare for different athletics competitions in Europe.
The group of 14 athletes includes the likes of Johanna Benson, Ananias Shikongo, Tjipekapora Herunga, Globine Mayova and Hitjivirue Kaanjuka.
Currently Namibia has 10 athletes that qualified for the Paralympic World Championships in France, while one track athlete has qualified for the World Championships in Moscow.
Mannetti calls for support

Brave Warriors interim coach Ricardo Mannetti is confident the team will come right on Wednesday night against Nigeria at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Mannetti, who took over as interim head coach on Sunday evening following the resignation of Roger Palmgren, held his first training session with the players on Monday morning and reckons the mood in the camp is positive as his players gear up to face the African champions Nigeria.
Palmgren quits as Namibia coach

Former AmaZulu coach Roger Palmgren has dramatically quit his job in charge of Namibia just days before the Brave Warriors are due to meet Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier.
It also comes just over a month after the Swede, who has had a colourful coaching career in Africa, took on the job.
Palmgren quit by telling the Namibia Football Association he felt unsafe in Windhoek after an alleged incident in his hotel bar a fortnight ago, where he claims that he was threatened.
He told officials he was accosted after Namibia played a goalless draw with Zambia in a warm-up match in May.
