Vermeulen sticks with unchanged team

Namibian coach Danie Vermeulen has named an unchanged team to take on Tunisia in the final of the CAR Cup Division 1B tournament in Dakar on Saturday afternoon.

Namibia reached the final after beating Senegal 35-12 in their first round match on June 11, while Tunisia beat Botswana 43-12 on the same day.

Some of the Namibian players had some bruises after the Senegal encounter, while prop Jaco Engels nursed a slight hamstring injury, but all the players have recovered and are once again available for the deciding match against Tunisia.

Botswana squad for Cosafa Cup

Botswana coach Stanley Tshosane has submitted his squad selection for the COSAFA Cup Zambia 2013 that runs from July 6-20.

The 20-man squad has an exciting blend of youth and experience that will point the way to the future of Botswana football.

There are a number of players in the selection who have been involved in the recent 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Exciting young striker Tebogo Sembowa from Gaborone United is one, along with his club mate, the experienced Moemedi Moatlhaping.

NFA considers action against Palmgren

Namibia Football Association president John Muinjo has said that they are considering further action against Roger Palmgren, following the Swedish coach’s sudden resignation.

Palmgren resigned last Sunday following unsubstantiated threats to himself and his family.

Muinjo said that they were investigating their options to see what action they could take against Palmgren.

Falcons join Mariental at the top

Reho Falcon joined Mariental at the top of the log following last weekend’s fifth round of action in the Namibian Rugby Premier League.

Reho Falcon thumped Polytechnic 52-11, running in eight tries in the process to collect two bonus points, which sees them joining Mariental on 20 points.

Mariental, who have been the surprise packet of the Premier League so far, still lead the log with a better points aggregate, while they also have a match in hand.

Fourth leg of Beach Volleyball Series

The fourth tournament of the Kia Namibia National Beach Volleyball Tour will take place on Saturday at the DTS Beach Arena.

Tin Hlupic and Gerard Fischer are the favourites in the men’s category of this tournament, which is sponsored by Maerua Superspar.

They are currently in top form and will be traveling to Croatia for the U21 Beach Volleyball World Championships on Monday.

Interested players can choose from various different categories, either in the 2-a-side or 4-a-side format. Entry deadline is Friday at 11 am.
