Taibu hits a brilliant 165

Tatenda Taibu hit a great century as Namibia were dismissed for 313 runs in their SAA Challenge match against Easterns at the Wanderers ground on Thursday.
Taibu batted throughout the Namibian innings, opening with JB Burger and being the last man out when he was caught in the deep for 165 runs. Taibu was in total control and his total came off 215 balls and included two sixes and 20 fours.

Civics brace for tough match

Namibian league champions Civics are expecting a tough match against Petro Atletico of Angola in the first round, first leg of the Champions League tournament in Luanda on Saturday but are prepared to fight all the way.

Johannes breaks 21km record

Helaria Johannes set a new Namibian record over 21km with a time of 1 hour 12 minutes 32 seconds at the Lahore Marathon in Pakistan on January 14.
Johannes was invited to participate as a pace setter for the official marathon over 42km and just completed the first 21km of the official marathon. Her time at the halfway mark was well below her previous national record of 73 minutes 35 seconds that she set when she won the 2006 Old Mutual Marathon in Cape Town.

Nedbank Cycle Tour launched

The Nedbank Namibia Cycle Tour, which takes place on 11 February in Windhoek, was officially launched today.
Bill Turton, the managing director, of Nedbank, said the Cycle Tour had become a big event on the Namibian sporting calendar.

SKW win dull match

A late goal by Marco van Wyk gave SKW a 1-0 victory over Friends at the SKW field on Wednesday night.
After an aimless and forgettable first half, SKW picked up the pace in the second. Their strikers however lacked penetration and the match seemed to be heading for a draw when Van Wyk struck in the 81st minute.
