Golden Cheetahs win Top Ten Championships
Submitted by editor on Tue, 03/20/2007 - 12:08.Golden Cheetahs Athletics Club was the best performing club at the season-opening Coca Cola Top Ten Athletics Championships in Windhoek on March 16.
Cheetahs won the club competition with a total of 8 800 points, followed by Winners Athletics Club with 8 600 points and WHS Athletics Club on 8 400 points.
Testimonial match for Shiyuka
Submitted by editor on Tue, 03/20/2007 - 06:57.The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has granted a testimonial match for Civics captain and Brave Warriors defender Amos Shiyuka, who will retire from football at the end of the season.
At a press conference in Windhoek on Monday, Shiyuka said the testimonial match will take place on June 30 and will see a past and present Civics team coming up against a past and present Bafana Bafana team.
Civics pull away at the top

All the other title contenders dropped points over the weekend, which sees Civics opening a gap of seven points at the top of the log.
Orlando Pirates 4 Blue Waters 2
Submitted by editor on Sun, 03/18/2007 - 17:53.Blue Waters suffered their second defeat of the weekend when they went down 4-2 to Orlando Pirates at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Sunday.
Pirates attacked from the start and the gaps soon opened up. Wilfred Coetzee, Patrick Jagger and Enrico Afrikaner all came close in the opening stages before Jagger took the lead in the 24th minute. He received the ball from a long kick upfield, beat a defender and fired a 30m shot into the net.
Spirited Suburbs beat Wanderers
Submitted by editor on Sun, 03/18/2007 - 10:43.Western Suburbs started the rugby season on a high note when they beat the defending champions Wanderers 48-38 in the MTC Premier League at their home ground, Suburbs Park on Saturday.
The teams weighed up evenly in the forward exchanges, but Suburbsâ?? fleet-footed backline and the accurate goalkicking by fullback McGrath van Wyk ultimately made the difference.
