Oshakati striker Shilulu dies
Submitted by editor on Mon, 05/21/2007 - 10:41.Oshakati Cityâ??s star striker Abed â??Peleâ? Shilulu died after being hit by a car in Ongwediva early on Sunday morning.
According to Oshakati Cityâ??s general secretary Tommy Hauwanga, Shilulu had been dropped by a taxi when a car crashed into the back of the taxi. Another oncoming car swerved out and hit Shilulu who was crossing the street.
Stars break Cup hoodoo

In an engrossing contest, neither team could find the net during the normal 90 minutes as well as a further 30 minutes of extra time and the match had to be decided on penalties. Here, Starsâ?? young goalkeeper Max Mbaeva became an instant hero when he saved Wilfred Coetzeeâ??s shot and when Stars defender Pat Uanivi coolly sent the ball past Harry January, Stars had won the shoot out 5-3 to finally lift the trophy.
MTC NFA Cup Final

Stars will be desperate to win the title after reaching two Cup finals in the last two years, but finishing as the runners-up on both occasions.
Van der Merwe back in World Cup squad
Submitted by editor on Thu, 05/17/2007 - 21:18.Veteran flanker Schalk van der Merwe is back in the Namibian training group which is preparing for the Rugby World Cup.
Van der Merwe was initially not selected for the initial group of 49 players after he failed to attend national trials in Windhoek at the end of April. According to Namibia Rugby Union CEO, Christo Alexander, Van der Merwe however apologized for his absence, saying he was in Johannesburg at the time and could not return back to Windhoek in time. The NRU accepted his apology and included him in the squad.
Coach Venter suspended

On May 16, the daily newspaper Die Republikein reported that his suspension followed his unbecoming conduct during the historic visit of the William Webb Ellis World Cup trophy to Namibia. It said that he was accused of showing the â??utmost contemptâ? for the Namibia Rugby Union and the International Rugby Board at the World Cup trophy presentation ceremony on May 12.
