Wesbank Motocross at Gallina

On the 19th of May the 5th Moto Cross Championships race will be held at the Gallina Moto Cross Park, outside the capital of Windhoek, on the road towards Okahandja. This race is part of the 2007 Wesbank Challenge Series, sponsored by WESBANK, an affiliate of First National Bank of Namibia.

Botes and Plaatjies score in the PSL

Namibian professional soccer players Henrico Botes and Sidney Plaatjies were both on target for their clubs in South African league matches over the weekend.
Botes scored a brace in Swallows' 3-0 win over Robert Nauseb's Santos, while Sidney Plaatjies who recently quit the national side scored the opener for Jomo Cosmos in their 3-0 win against Ajax Cape Town.

Samaria breaks 1 500m record again

Agnes Samaria continued her fantastic form of late when she broke the Namibian record over 1 500m at the IAAF Super Grand Prix in Doha, Qatar on May 11.
Although Samaria could only manage to come fourth in the race, her time of 4 minutes 07,76 seconds was a new Namibian national record, and in fact the fourth time that she had improved the mark this year.

Friends relegated

Friends became the second team to be relegated from the Namibia Premier League when they lost 1-0 to African Stars in an ill-tempered encounter at the Rehoboth Stadium on Saturday.
Friends had two players â?? Nathan van Wyk and Constance Boois â?? sent off for foul play, while Starsâ?? midfielder Isaac Mwinga was taken to hospital after injuring his ankle. The match seemed to be heading for a draw when Starsâ?? second half substitute Elvis Muheua scored the winning goal with five minutes remaining.

Invitation teams draw exhibition match

A White Invitation team made a late comeback to draw 26-all against a Blue Invitation team at the Hage Geingob Rugby Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The exhibition match, involving Namibiaâ??s national squad players, followed the presentation of the official rugby world cup, the William Webb Ellis trophy to a handful of spectators and dignitaries, including the president of the Namibia Rugby Union and the Deputy Minister of Sport, Pohamba Shifeta.
