A Namibian team of 10 individual and five group gymnasts performed exceptionally well in the Rhythmic Gymnastics competition at the Zone Six Gymnastic Championships in Walvis Bay.
The Level 4 team won the overall gold medal, while the Pre-Junior, Junior and Senior teams all won silver medals.
In the Senior competition Tamarin Van Rhyn was the overall individual champion with an average score of 10,13 points.
She won two gold medals in the Rope and Ribbon categories and a silver medal in the Clubs category.
Amanda Smit of Walvis Bay came fifth overall, winning a gold medal in the Ball category.
Mirja Stoldt of SKW came fourth overall in the Junior category, winning a silver medal in the Ribbon category and a bronze medal in the Rope and Hoop categories.
Bierbach gets top score
Nicole Bierbach, also of SKW, won the overall gold medal in the Pre-Junior category with an average score of 10,90, which was the highest average score of all Namibia?s gymnasts at the competition.
She won a gold medal in the Hoop category and silver medals in the Rope and Ball categories.
In the Pre-Junior competition, Lene le Roux of SKW won the overall bronze medal with an average score of 10,28. Le Roux also won bronze medals in the Rope and Ball categories.
In the Level 4 category, Maike Brandt of SKW won the overall silver medal with an average score of 8,71. She won gold medals in the Free Dance and Rope categories.
Aldi Truter of SKW won the overall bronze medal with an average score of 8,68, winning a silver medal in the Ball category and a bronze medal in the Rope category.
Chene Bester of Tsumeb came fifth overall, winning a silver medal in the Hoop category.
The national team coach was Angela Lepekha of Rhythmic Sport Klub Windhoek, assisted by Roumiana Kostin of Walvis Bay Gymnastics Club.
