Namibia lose to Germany and Switzerland

Namibia continued to struggle at the Fistball Youth World Cup on Friday with its men and women´s teams losing both their matches against Switzerland and Germany.

Germany 3 Namibia 0 – men (11-5, 11-7, 11-4)

Namibia´s men were thoroughly beaten by the favourites Germany. Germany took an early 5-^1 lead in the first set but Namibia did well to reduce the gap to 6-4. Germany however stepped up the pressure to easily win the set 11-5.

Despite starting with two errors in the second set, Namibia soon got their momentum going to take a 3-2 lead. Germany however were in another league and stepped up the pace to go 7-3 ahead. Namibia fought back to 8-7 but Germany went on to win the set 11-7.

Germany were now on a roll, reeling in the points to take a 6-0 lead. Namibia staged a slight comeback but Germany comfortably won the set 11-4 to win the match 3-0.

Switzerland 3 Namibia 0 – men (11-2, 11-5, 11-5)

Switzerland raced into a 6-0 lead in the first set. Namibia changed its spiker but that did not help much as Switzerland won the set 11-2.

Switzerland maintained an excellent defence and made use of their opportunities to take a 5-1 lead in the second set. Namibia made too many unforced errors to lose the set 11-5.

Switzerland took a 4-0 lead and although Namibia pulled back to 4-3, Switzerland were too consistent and went on to win the set 11-5 to take the match 3-0.

Namibia´s women continued their losing streak on Friday, going down 3-0 to both Germany and Switzerland.
Germany beat Namibia 11-5, 11-3, 11-2, while Switzerland beat Namibia 11-8, 11-8, 11-6.
