Seven new school swimming records were established at the Pupkewitz Gala which simultaneously too place in Windhoek and Swakopmund on October 28 and 29.
In the Boys 8 year old category Adriaan Visser of St Georges broke the 50m butterfly record by 6,5 seconds to set a new record of 56,58 seconds.
Another St Georges scholar, Quinton Delie broke two records in the boys 14 and under age group category. He broke Patrick Wheal?s previous 50m butterfly record of 33,70 with a new time of 33,03, while he also broke Joachim Guehring?s 50m freestyle record of 27,90 with a time of 27,49.
Shortly after Delie broke the 50m freestyle record, Byron Briedenhann of St Pauls once again broke the record with a new time of 29,38 seconds.
In the boys 18 and under category Ashley Wheal of DHPS set a new 50m backstroke record of 31,87 seconds.
Two records were established in the girls? 15-year-old category.
In the 50m backstroke event, Nadia Sternagel broke Donna Megenis? record of 35,39 seconds with a new time of 34,34 seconds. Jonay Briedenhann of St Pauls broke Julia Beck?s 50m breaststroke record of 38,72 seconds with a new time of 38,37.
DHPS? boys 16 and under relay team of Marius Roesener, Oliver Roesener, Patrick Wheal and Joachim Guhring broke the 15-year-old r4x100m medley ecord with a new time of 1:54,18.
DHPS was the top school at the gala, winning both the primary schools? floating trophy and the secondary schools? floating trophy.
