The draw of the new looking Cosafa Cup was conducted on Thursday in KaNyamazane, South Africa and saw the Brave Warriors drawn in Group B of the preliminary round along with The Comoros Islands, Lesotho and Malawi.
Group A will be contested by Madagascar, Seychelles, Mauritius and Swaziland. The preliminary round will be played on a round-robin league basis. The Brave Warriors will start their campaign with newcomers Comoros on Sunday, July 20 before meeting Lesotho on Tuesday, 22 July.
Namibia played Lesotho in last yearâ??s competition held in Botswana that ended 2-1 in favour of the Warriors in the less crucial third place play-offs of the then mini-tournament. Namibiaâ??s last group match will be against the rapidly improving Malawi, who beat the Warriors 3-1 in an international friendly match in Windhoek in May this year.
The Group B winner will meet defending champions Bafana Bafana in the quarterfinals on July 26, while the side that finishes on top in Group A will face Angola, also on July 26. Bafana and Angola both received preliminary round byes along with Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
