Ali wins in style.

Namibian boxer Ali Nuumbembe stopped Gavin Down of Chesterfield in the 3rd round of their contest on September 23.
Ali's work rate was relentless and he broke down his opponent to give him a great victory.
In the first round the two boxers were a bit cautious, with both men showing a lot of respect for each other, but Ali was the one who seemed to throw more shots.
Chants of 'Ali, Ali' could be heard all around as the likeable Namibian had huge support and Ali t shirts could be seen all around the stadium.
Things livened up at around the halfway point in the 2nd round when Ali stepped it up a few gears and unleashed an all out attack on Down.
The assault was brutal and relentless with punches coming in from all angles, Down was desperate to grab hold of Nuumbembe and tie his man up. Ali however showed good strength and was able to keep Down away while throwing fast accurate punches which put him in complete control. At the bell Gavin looked to be quite unsteady as he returned to his corner.
When both boxers came out for the 3rd round they exchanged shots in the centre of the ring and Down caught the Glossop man with a full on right hand, followed up with a left hook and right cross, most fighters would have gone down to these shots but Ali walked right through them and immediately returned the complement with a straight one, two followed by a left hook which pushed Down back onto the ropes. Ali chased him and just missed with a left uppercut but the straight right hand that followed it landed flush on the jaw and Downs knees buckled, he quickly grabbed hold of Ali and Phil Edwards the referee broke the two and told them to box on. Down recovered well and again caught Ali with two right hands but again Ali replied with his own. The action continued and they ended up in a neutral corner when Ali landed a huge left hook which knocked back the head of his opponent, Down fell back, onto the ropes and Ali followed in with hurtful looking uppercut, left hook and right cross which gave the referee no choice but to jump in and halt the fight.
While Down was helped back to his corner a delighted Nuumbembe danced around the ring with his fans going wild with delight.
Ali now wants to fight for The Commonwealth Title and is hoping to get his shot before the end of the year.
