United Rugby Club waits for NSC decision

United Rugby Club will not approach the president of the NRU Dirk Conradie to take him up on his promise made at the AGM on September 10.
Conradie said ?when United approaches the exco of the NRU we can talk about the suspension of the club.?
United was suspended until 2007 because the club?s players refuse to play for the national side. According to the chairman of United, Henk Cloete, the club management decided to wait for the decision of the Namibian Sports Commission (NSC) after United appealed to it following its suspension.
According to Cloete, United felt that they where suspended unfairly, because the conflict between the players and the NRU and not the club and the NRU. The NSC received the formal appeal on September 14.
Cloete said that the current situation was very unfortunate because the players? motivation was low, the fans are disappointed and the sponsors are worried.
He said he hoped the NSC would initiate a process of communication and transparency between the NRU, the clubs and the players.
On the issue of money owed by the NRU to national players, he said that he appreciates Conradie?s proposal of paying the money for the players out of his own pocket, but to his knowledge it was more than the N$2 000 acknowledged by the NRU exco, but rather between N$3 000 and N$4 000 per player.
