Ramblers stage great comeback to beat Tigers

Tigers got a taste of their own medicine when Ramblers beat them after staging a great comeback at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Wednesday night.
In their previous outing, Tigers beat Civics 3-2 after trailing 2-0, but this time it was Ramblers who beat Tigers 3-2, after trailing 2-0.

The victory saw Ramblers moving to the top of the log on 13 points, moving three points clear of four teams on 10 points.

A match of two halves

It was a match of two halves as Tigers controlled the first half to take a 2-0 lead.
Ramblers however opened their account just before halftime and then took the lead with two quick goals after the break.
Tigers pushed hard for the equaliser towards the end of the match but Ramblersâ?? defence stood firm.

Shipahu puts Tigers ahead

Tigers were first to attack and took an early lead when a great through ball by Leonard Stanley found Tangeni Shipanhu who beat Ramblers keeper Lukas Hashiti from close range.

With Leonard Stanley a constant danger down the right wing, more chances came Tigersâ?? way and they took a 2-0 lead through a great goal by Neville Nanub. From a throw in he chested the ball down and volleyed it into the net.

John Samson and Nelson Akwenye worked hard for Ramblers in attack, but were well kept in check until injury time of the first half when Samson rose high to head a Raymond Awaseb corner into the net.

Dramatic equaliser

Ramblers equalised in dramatic fashion, barely 30 seconds after the restart. From the kickoff Awaseb attacked and split the defence with a great pass to Pinias Jacob who beat Fox Nambundunga in Tigersâ?? goal.

Four minutes later Ramblers took the lead when Jacob scored his second, this time after receiving a great through ball from Martin Mhani.

Ramblers continued to attack with Samson and Akwenye coming close, while Tigers pushed hard in the closing stages.
Tigersâ?? substitute midfielder Diego Vries blasted over the crossbar, while Tangeni Shipahu had an appeal for a penalty turned down in the final minutes when he went down in the box.

Tigers, who now move down to eighth position on seven points, will kick themselves for letting this one slip. They seemed to have the match in the bag, leading 2-0 just before halftime, but lapses in concentration led to Ramblersâ?? comeback.

Clinical finishing by Jacobs

For Tigers Leonard Stanley had a great game, injecting pace down the right wing and finding his strikers with some defence-splitting passes.
Eliphas Heita and Neville Nanub were influential in midfield, while Tangeni Shipahu is growing in stature as a striker, although he needs to work on his temperament.

For Ramblers, Luther Kanalelo and Martin Mhani were tight at the back, while Jeremia Baisako worked tirelessly down the left wing.

Raymond Awaseb sparked Ramblersâ?? attacks in midfield while Pinias Jacob stood out in attack and clinically finished the chances that came his way.
