Namibian 800m athletics star Agnes Samaria came sixth at the DN Galan Grand Prix in Stockholm on July 26.
Despite coming only sixth, Samaria set her best outdoor time of the season of 1:59,91, which was the ninth time in her career that she had broken the two minute barrier.
Samaria started the race at the back of the pack, running in last position for the first 500m, and then gradually moving up.
?After moving forward, nobody managed to pass her, which indicates that she is becoming stronger and more confident. She was pleased with her time and feels confident that her positions will soon improve once she starts to run from the front again,? her assistant Marc van Uytvanck said.
?Agnes is currently building confidence after some weaker results over the past month, while she had treatment on her Achilles injury for the whole of last week,? he added.
The race was won by Tatyana Andrianova of Russia in 1:57,80, followed by Hazel Clark of the United States (1:58,59), Maria Mutola of Mozambique (1:59,08), Olga Kotlyarova of Russia (1:59,64) and Zulia Calatayud of Cuba (1:59,89).
Andrianova has produced the fastest time of 1:56,07 over 800m so far this season and will start as favourite for the World Championships in Helsinki.
Over the past month, Samaria came eighth in Athens, Greece, tenth in Rome and fifth in Madrid in European Grand Prix events.
On July 29, Samaria will participate in the Golden League in Oslo, Norway, after which she will travel to Helsinki for the World Athletics Championships, which start on August 6.
