Ramblers beat Unam 3-0

Ramblers overcame their bad form of late to score a comprehensive 3-0 win against Unam in a women?s Premier League hockey match on July 23.
Ramblers, who were the runners-up last season to Unam, have suffered two heavy defeats this season to Windhoek Old Boys Sport Club (4-2 on June 8, and 5-1 on July 9), which have put a dent in their hopes of winning this year?s championships.
On July 23, however, their experienced players like Silke Pennefather, Anke Haensel, Tanya Rogerson and Monica Ihms, as well as the youthful Chantelle de Gouveia were just too strong for the youthful and inexperienced Unam team.
Ramblers? goals were scored by Anke Haensel, Monica Ihms and Silke Pennefather.
For Unam, Marilyn Nanus and Frieda Kalondo played well individualistically, but the team is still struggling to combine as a unit. Both teams have a lot of work to do if they hope to catch log-leaders WOBSC, who collected a maximum of 12 points from their opening three matches.
Several of Unam?s star players from their title winning team of last season have left the club, and they are currently in a rebuilding phase with several new youngsters in the team.
?At this point, I am building a new team, and therefore the process is more important to me than the results,? Unam?s coach Heini Swartbooi said.
In the men?s Reserve League, log-leaders Unam continued their unbeaten run with a 1-all draw against defending champions DTS Draughters. Unam now lead the log with 13 points, followed by DTS on 10.
In another men?s Reserve League match on July 23, WOBSC beat DTS II 1-0.
Two men?s Premier League matches will be played at the Doc Jubber Fields in Windhoek on July 30.
