Defending champions Pepsi Unam took the lead in the Field Hockey Men?s Premier League after beating Bytes DTS 3-1 on June 11.
DTS dominated the first half and opened the scoring through Under 21 national midfielder Emile Dorgeloh in the 11th minute.
At halftime Unam player-coach Erwin Handura made a few tactical changes which came to good stead as Unam took control after the match and started creating chances. Dunstan Haufiku equalised for Unam, before Joseph Kashamako put them in the lead from a short corner. Heini Swartbooi scored their final goal to silence the noisy DTS supporters.
Ramblers continued their fine form by trouncing newcomers Civics 4-2 on the same day.
Ramblers captain, Reagon Graig celebrated his 30th birthday with two goals, while Waldo Lassen and Stefan Bezuidenhoudt scored one each. Chris van Wyk and Johan Visagie scored for Civics.
On June 8, Windhoek Old Boys Sport Club (WOBSC) and Ramblers drew 1-all. Bucko Bartlett scored for WOBSC, while Reagon Graig scored for Ramblers.
Pepsi Unam are now unbeaten after three matches and have accumulated 10 points in the process. Ramblers, who are also unbeaten, are lying second on nine points from their three matches.
The two teams will lock horns in the main match on June 18.
In the women?s Premier League, the youngsters of WOBSC caused a major upset by beating the defending indoor league champions Ramblers on June 8.
Charlize van der Linde, Janine Davin and Jericca Cormack (two) scored for WOBSC, while Christa Kayser and Anke Haensel scored for Ramblers.
