The quarterfinals of the MTC NFA Cup take place in Oshakati on Saturday and some exciting matches can be expected.
Orlando Pirates are rediscovering their form in the Premier League and should be too strong for the Otjozondjupa second division champions, Eleven Brothers.
Pirates thrashed Tough Guys 9-0 in the previous round and are currently on a hot streak. On Wednesday night they beat Tigers 4-2 with Patrick Jagger grabbing a hattrick.
Eleven Brothers have not faced a Premier League team in the NFA Cup yet. They beat Fedics United 1-0 in the first round and then beat Rundu Chiefs 3-1 in the second round.
Black Africa v Mighty Gunners
Black Africa take on another team from Otjiwarongo, Mighty Gunners at 15h00.
Black Africa have not been performing too well in the league lately and lost 1-0 to Ramblers on Wednesday night. But they have a proud history in Cup competitions and have raked in the goals so far in this yearâ??s NFA Cup competition. In the first round they eliminated Blue Waters 5-3 and in the second round thrashed Major Power 5-0.
Mighty Gunners, on the other hand, scraped through on penalties against Deportivo Alaves in the first round before thrashing Volcano 5-1 in the second round.
Cymot SKW v African Stars
Cymot SKW take on African Stars at 17h00 in a match that could go either way. The teams played to a 0-0 draw in their first round league encounter, but both teams gave disappointing performances in their most recent league matches. On Sunday, Stars lost 1-0 at home to Oshakati City, while SKW were held to a 1-all draw by relegation threatened Golden bees.
SKW are also struggling with several injuries and fielded a severely depleted team against Bees. â??Old boysâ? coach Lucky Kakuva and Roger Henkert were called up for that game and they might be called up again â?? especially after Henkert scored a fine freekick against Bees.
Stars should be at full strength and with attacking players like Freedom Puriza, Johannes Seibeb, Brouwers Litombo, Erwin Njembo and Maleagi Ngarizemo they should start as slight favourites to win this one.
Ramblers v Arrows
The final match at 19h00 sees Kingsley Ramblers taking on Eleven Arrows.
Arrows caused one of the major shocks of the competition when they beat league champions Civics 3-1 in the second round. Nobody gave them much of a chance against Civics, but Robson Haitamba opened the scoring in the first 20 seconds and Civics could not recover from this.
Arrows will be hoping for another flying start, but on recent form, Kingsley Ramblers should start as the favourites. They beat Black Africa 1-0 in a league match on Wednesday and have some terrific players to choose from. With players like Riaan Cloete, Samson John, Bradley Wermann, Tommy Horaeb, Victor Helu and Lazarus Kaimbi to choose from they should field a strong team, which on paper should beat Arrows. But then again, thatâ??s what we said before the Arrows-Civics encounter.
