Kristoff Shaanika and Beata Naigambo won the third leg of Old Mutual Victory Races in Oshakati last weekend.
Shaanika won the Elite Men’s 21km category in a time of 1:03:04, with Simon Shipingana following closely behind in 1:03:10 and Robert Kaxuxwena coming third in 1:03:15.
Naigambo used the event as a final warmup before she leaves for the Olympic Games this weekend and was a comfortable winner of the women’s Elite category. She completed the 21km event in 1:08:29, finishing well ahead of Lavinia Haitope (1:12:08) and Sofia Nambabi (1:14:25).
Herario Indongo won the Junior Male category, followed by Julian Fryman and Paulus Marthias, while Shilongo Shivomwene won the Junior Female category followed by Tripolina Mwatotele and Ndapandula Nghinaanye.
Jorobeam Amunyoko won the Male +40 category followed by Mutota Mathias and Frans Erasmus while Sieglinde Gontes won the Female +40 category followed by Ilona Amunyoka.
Despite the chilly weather, there was a big turnoput at the event, with 567 participants turning up for the start.
There was prize money for the first five athletes in each of the catgories in the 21km as well as 5km races.
