Team Namibia bid farewell

British High Commissioner joined Deputy Minister of Youth, National, Sport and Culture bid farewell to Team Namibia Hosea Kutako International Airport on 20 July.

The first group of Namibia’s Olympic team departed for Britain on Friday 20 July from Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA).

The British High Commission and South African Airways jointly hosted a farewell celebration at the airport.

Deputy Minister of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture Hon Pohamba Shifeta was the Guest of Honour.

The British High Commissioner Marianne Young and Shifeta bid farewell and good luck to the Namibian Olympians and toasted to their success.

Young wished the team well and said:

“I am delighted that Namibia is sending such a fine team of young Namibian sportsmen and women to compete in London 2012, across a range of events and with government representation at the Paralympic Games too. I wish them every success and look forward to following their progress in what is set to be the Greatest Show on Earth this year!”

The British High Commission and the Namibian National Olympic Committee have jointly promoted the upcoming Olympic Games through a variety of outreach events.
