The fourth tournament of the 2012 DTS Maerua Superspar Beach Volleyball Series took place in Windhoek last weekend with 29 teams participating in very cold weather.
The Junior Women’s category, sponsored by Windhoek Canopy Centre, a category for girls aged between 14 and 18 years saw four teams taking part.
First place after winning all three matches went to Stephanie Palmhert and Kim Seebach with Jana Rumpf and Maike Brandt finishing as runners up. Third place went to Saskia
Henkert and Melissa Kring.
The two-a-side social category attracted four teams, while youth player Maike Brandt also took part in the social category with Yorck Ritter as her partner.
They were unbeaten during the day to win the category while Yvonne and Lena Brinkmann as an all female team came second, with Mark Brinkmann and Paul Munting finishing third.
In the Senior Men’s category the top spot was decided after a titanic battle between two teams from different generations. The senior team of Achim Lueck and Peter Brinkmann were one set behind against the junior team of Gero Talkenberg and Bernhard Schurz.
Brinkmann and Lueck however came back to win the second set 21-14 before they showed their experience to win the third set 15-8 and clinch their second title of the year.
Third place went to Viggo von Scheliah and Helmo Minz.
The four-a-side social category attracted 12 teams. The top four teams that qualified for the semifinals were Cats & Dogs, Meatco Lovers, Mean Machine and Juxta.
The winner of the last two tournaments, Juxta, lost in the semifinal to last year’s champions Cats & Dogs, setting up a final against the very strong team of Meatco Lovers. Cats & Dogs managed to win the final 2-0 to clinch their first title of the year. Third place went to team Juxta.
The women’s category saw four Beach Volleyball teams competing. Defending champions Wiebke Hoeritzauer and Brigitte Looser once again showed their skill and went unbeaten throughout the whole day.

For the fourth time this year, Hoeritzauer and Looser drove away with a sports car sponsored by KIA Motors which they can drive until the next tournament.
