Big turnout at Karibib Enduro

Karibib enduro

Close to 80 enduro riders competed in the fifth round of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series on Saturday, 14 July 2012 at Albrechtshöhe.

The event, which was co-sponsored by Sat-Com, was held on the Meyer farm in the Karibib district, with the competitors lining up to take on the track nicknamed the Rocky Horror race.

The riders showed their commitment to the race, despite the challenging track, and not even the weekend’s cold weather could dampen the competitors’ spirit.

In the Open National Class, Ingo Waldschmidt demonstrated what a talented and experienced rider he is by winning the race, while some competitors suffered mechanical and tyre problems during the race.

The race recorded the fastest lap time for national motorcycles and Fanie Steenkamp recorded the fastest lap time for quad bikes over the 43km course and maintained his unbeaten record for the season.

In the 200cc Class, it was Claude Brendel (KTM) who secured victory ahead of Sven Schneidenberger (KTM) while Derik Clark (KTM) came third.

In the Open Class, Ingo Waldschmidt (KTM) secured victory ahead of Björn Bierbrauer (Honda) and Therold Murch (KTM).

In the National Quad Class, Windzor Huselman (Honda) secured victory.

In the Ladies Quad Class, Maike Bochert (Honda) secured the victory ahead of Shannon Rowland (Honda) in second and Julia Moths in third place.

Andreas Brendel (KTM) won the National Senior Class, followed by Eckhard Waldschmidt (KTM) and Kai Hohmeier (KTM).

Fanie Steenkamp (Honda) won the National Senior Quad Class, with Clinton Hilfiker (Yamaha) coming second and Yana de Jesus (Honda) third.

Glen Brown (KTM) won the Support Class. ahead of Pascal Henle (KTM) and Gerhard Simon (Yamaha) in second and third places respectively.

Enrico Malan (Yamaha) won the Support Quad Class ahead of Dian van der Merwe (Honda) and Jurgen Schonker (Yamaha).

Lotario van Wyk (Yamaha) won the Junior Quads, finishing ahead of Zan-Marie Schonker (Yamaha).

In the Farmers or Class 10 battle, it was Eugene Koen (Yamaha) who secured victory, followed by Frank Schneidenberger (Kawasaki) and Julia Menthrup (Honda) in second and third places respectively.

The next race in the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series will take place on 11 August in Windhoek.
