Okahandja Beauties took over at the top of the Women’s Super League log after a recent walkover victory against Unam Bokkies.

Bokkies could not field a full team since some players were missing due to exams but they could not get the match postponed and Beauties received the points.

Bokkies’ coach Onward Utete requested a postponement two days before the match but Jacky Gertze of the NFA Women’s informed him that the match could not be postponed.

“We are trying to run a professional league and cannot just postpone matches. This is not the first time it has happened and Bokkies have a history of disrupting the league but they need to stick to the rules,” she said.

Bokkies’ coach Onward Utete however accused the organisers of inconsistency and of favouring the young JS Academy team. Most of JS Academy’s players are in a Namibian Under 20 squad that is currently touring Germany and their matches have been postponed until their return next week.

Beauties’ walkover victory saw them taking over from JS Academy at the top of the log on goal difference. Both teams are on 31 points although JS Academy has a game in hand.

Last Sunday, Unam Bokkies managed to field a full strength side as they crushed bottom of the log Challengers 13-1, after leading 5-0 at halftime.

Martina Tjauha with five goals and Zuleika Rutz with four were their top goal scorers, while Ester Amukwaya, Efeni Velikoshi, Saara Philips and Ndapewa Ipinge each scored one goal. Nicolene Doeses scored Challengers’ goal.

Unam Bokkies are now fourth on the log with 15 points from 14 matches, while Challengers are last with zero points.

Juliana Skrywer of Okahandja Beauties is leading the top goal scorer chart with an incredible 28 goals from 13 matches. Her team mate Kleintjie Fredericks is second on 24 goals, while Zenatha Coleman of JS Academy is third on 19 goals.

In matches this weekend, Poly Babes, who are third on the log on 25 points will play Unam Bokkies at 10h00 on Saturday at the NFA Centre.

On Sunday at the same venue, Okahandja Beauties take on Challengers at 10h00, while Poly Babes take on 21 Brigade United at 11h50.
