Namibian rugby coach Danie Vermeulen has named a 22-man squad to take on South Africa Universities in a friendly match in Windhoek on Saturday, June 23.
The team will be captained by Wasps flanker Tinus du Plessis and includes six foreign-based players.
They are Leopards winger Danie Dames, left wing Chrysander Botha of the University of Johannesburg, flyhalf theuns Kotze, who represented South Western Districts in the Vodacom Cup this season, lock Henk Franken and fullback Lean Stoop who both play for Hamiltons in Cape Town.
Also included in the squad is lock Heinz Koll who joined Wasps earlier this season, but who has since been released and is currently unattached.
Western Suburbs centre Roger Thompson returns to the squad after an absence of several years and will partner Anthony Jevu of Kudus at centre.
Justin Nel of Suburbs will start at fullback while Eugene Jantjies is the scrumhalf and vice captain.
Amongst the forwards, Collen Smith and Callie Swanepoel of United join Wanderers’ Johnny Redelinghuys in the front row, while United flanker Morne Blom and Wanderers eighthman PJ van Lill join Du Plessis in the loose trio.
The match will start at 14h00 at the Hage Geingob Stadium next Saturday.
