Aranos Enduro

Round Four of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series which was held in and around Aranos on Saturday, 9 June, was a huge success with local riders joining the national competitors to take on the red dunes and other obstacles.

A total of 96 riders took part in this event, proving that the number of competitors in the sport has been growing during this year.

Racing got underway in chilly conditions but the riders were soon sweating and fighting it out for the top spot in the different classes.

In the bike class, Tommy Gouws scored his second victory of the season by beating Henner Rusch by 32 seconds over the 180km distance in a closely fought battle.

In the National Quad Class Windzor Huselman produced a convincing win to secure the top spot in this class.

Riaan van Rooyen, Head of Corporate Communication at Bank Windhoek, said they were very happy to see such great attendance as this was one of the furthest events for the majority of the riders. This, he said, showed the commitment of the riders and promotion of the sport all over the country.

“We believe that the Enduro working group and Bank Windhoek have proven how important it is that the sponsor and the benefactor work well together. We can safely say that it is because of this relationship, together with the excellent coverage of the sport in the media, that this sport has shown such promising growth,” he said.
