Ramblers win title in style

Ramblers won the Tafel Lager Indoor Hockey women?s Premier League title after beating Sparta 5-0 on April 16.
It was an emphatic finish to a great season, which saw them retain the title for a record fifth year in a row.
?We always keep the best for last,? Ramblers? ecstatic captain Silke Pennefather said after the match.
Pennefather was once again had a fine game, scoring two goals, while the other scorers were Christa Kayser (two) and Sonja Meier.
In the end Ramblers? experience saw them snatch the title from DTS. DTS had been leading from the start of the campaign, but Ramblers won their decisive encounter 4-1 on April 8 to take the initiative.
Players like Pennefather, Tanya Frankle, Anke Haensel, Christa Kayser and Monica Ihms all played important roles in their campaign and in the end their experience proved too much for the other title challengers.
The win saw Ramblers snatch the title with 24 points from 10 matches, followed by DTS on 21 and Wanderers on 15.
In another women?s Premier League match on April 16, Unam comfortably beat Sparta 4-1. Unam built up a halftime lead of 3-0 through a goal by Christella Swartbooi and two by Theodora Kariko.
Sparta came back strongly after the break through a goal by Carla Cummings, but Marilyn Nanus scored another for Unam to give them a comfortable win.
However, it was a disappointing season for Unam who could only manage to come fourth with 14 points from 10 matches.
