Windhoek Old Boys (WOB) held Ramblers to a 2-all draw to leave the women?s Premier league title open till the final match of the season.
Had Ramblers won, they would have won the Tafel Lager Indoor Hockey league for the fifth year in a row, but they will now have to wait till their final league match against Sparta on April 16 to see whether they will retain their title.
Ramblers were the first to score when Silke Pennefather found the net from a short corner in the 3rd minute. Ramblers forced several more short corners but WOB?s defence as well as their goalie Julie Campbell kept them at bay.
Shortly before halftime Elaine Kruger equalised for WOB with a great shot from a short corner that whistled past Monica Ihms into the net.
Just after the break Kruger once again came to Ramblers? rescue when she cleared Tanya Frankle?s goalward shot off the line, but Pennefather once again restored Ramblers? lead with her second goal from a short corner.
Ramblers had a great chance to increase their lead in the 30th minute when they were awarded a penalty, but WOB keeper Campbell managed to keep Frankle?s shot out.
With Ramblers continuing to pressurise, Anke Haensel found the net but her goal was disallowed due to an earlier infringement. WOB immediately went on a counter attack and forced a short corner from which Kruger once again found the net with a cracking shot.
The result means that DTS still lead the log with 21 points, followed by Ramblers, who have a game in hand, on 20.
