Matchless road race on Sunday

The second race of the Windhoek Pedal Power (WPP) series will take place on Sunday and will start and finish at the Matchless Mine turn off on the Daan Viljoen road.

The race is scheduled to start at 07h30 with registration between 06h30 and 07h15 on race day.

The route will take the riders on a 36.8 course to Elisenheim Bridge with the elite men riding an extra three loops at Dobra for a total distance of 106.6km

The junior men and veteran men will have to ride an extra two loops for a total distance of 90.6km. The U16 boy will have to ride one extra loop at Dobra and will cycle a total distance of 76.1km.

Three categories (B-Cat, junior ladies and elite ladies) will ride the 61.7km distance to and from Elisenheim Bridge.

The U14 boys and the master men will ride up to the Power Station and back for a distance of 52.8km while the U16 girls and the veteran women will cycle to the Khomasdal Bridge for a total distance of 43.3km.

The U14 girls, U2 boys and master women will cycle a distance of 28.4km up to the Tony Rust racing circuit.

Three categories (U12 girls, U10 boys and U10 girls) will ride 6km.

The race will be a build up to the annual Nedbank Cycle Challenge which will be held on February 19.

Entries for the Challenge will close on February 3.

The weekend before, the annual Nedbank Craven Camp will take place from 10 to 12 February.

The first race of the cycling season, the Copper Kettle had to be called off due to rain.
