FNB Cup final
Cup final fever is upon us as the countdown has begun for the FNB Cup final with African Stars taking on Civics at 16h00 at Windhoekâ??s Independence Stadium tomorrow.
Civics suffered a major setback when key midfielder Rudi Louw failed an appeal and will not be able to play. He picked up a yellow card in the semifinal win against Blue Waters, after a clash with Bullet Gaingob, but Civics submitted video evidence that Louw was not involved in the incident.
His appeal was however still refused after the organising committee ruled that Civics handed in their appeal too late.
Civicsâ?? team manager Paul Stramis was distraught, telling Namibia Sport that he had handed in his appeal well in time to the fourth match official and asked him to submit it to the match commissioner, whom he could after the match.
â??It looks like a conspiracy against us and that they were not interested in our video evidence,â? a distraught Stramis told Namibia Sport.
African Stars, however have also suffered a setback with captain Andrew Tjahikika ruled out after picking up two yellow cards. Fellow defender Maleagi Ngarizemo will captain the team in his absence.
It should be a great game and if you canâ??t be there, we will bring you all the news right here on Namibia Sportâ??s website!
Cycling
Some crazy marathon mountain bikers left Windhoek today for a 24-hour ride to Swakopmund in the Desert Logistics Desert Dash. These guys and girls are riding non stop over the Khomas Hochland and hope to reach Swakopmund within 24 hours. Some of Namibiaâ??s top mountainbikers like Mannie Heymans, Marc Bassingthwaighte, Arno Viljoen and Erik Hoffmann have also entered the Desert Dash.
Well thatâ??s about it. Have a sporting weekend!
