Bank Windhoek and Athletics Namibia (AN) renewed their sponsorship agreement for the 2011/2 track and field season.
Bank Windhoek will sponsor AN with an amount of N$280 000 which will go towards the Bank Windhoek Grand Prix series, the Bank Windhoek Senior National Championships and the Junior Southern Region Championships.
Marlize Horn, Bank Windhoek’s executive officer for marketing and corporate communication said that AN had continuously proved that they have the athletes at heart.
“We are proud of our association with AN and it has been exciting to see AN grow from strength to strength over the past two years to the benefit if Namibia’s athletes,” Horn said.
“We look forward to yet another successful season as partners of AN,” she added.
At the signing of the agreement, AN president, Frank Fredericks said he was very appreciative of the commitment Bank Windhoek has shown by supporting athletics at all levels.
“The first leg of the Grand Prix will take place on 19 November in Oshakati, whilst the second and third legs will be on the 10th of December and the 14th of January in Swakopmund and Windhoek respectively,” Fredericks said.
“The National Championships will be held on February 24 and 25 in Windhoek. We do not yet have a date for the Southern African Junior Championships,” he added.
Fredericks also announced that a day before the Oshakati Grand Prix, AN will host a specialised coaching course for athletes participating in the 800m event.
“Our very own Agnes Samaria will be facilitating the training with our athletes. The clinic is part of our development initiatives,” Fredericks said.
