DTS and Unam draw in thriller

DTS and Unam drew 4-all in a thrilling top-of-the-table men?s Premier League indoor hockey match on March 9.
DTS started on the attack and after early pressure, took the lead when Aiden Bates scored from a short corner in the second minute.
Unam immediately counter attacked through Haitengi Nghaamwe and when Demi Tjiueza saved Heini Swartbooi?s initial shot, Swartbooi followed up to hit the rebound into the net.
Swartbooi nearly increased the lead when he found the net a minute later but the gal was disallowed for an infringement. But Unam had the initiative now and took the lead in the 8th minute after a great individual goal by Siabonga Martin who rounded Tjiueza to put the ball into an empty net.
But once again DTS came back and Michael Steinbruck shaved the upright with an 11th minute shot while Unam keeper Tutu Karingombe did well to keep Darren Martin?s shot out.
Their pressure finally paid off when Steven Abe scored from a 14th minute short corner and three minutes later DTS took the lead when Randy Slabbert once again scored from a short corner.
With Unam being hustled into mistakes DTS took a 4-2 lead just before halftime when Slabbert scored from an acute angle.
Unam came out firing after the break but poor option taking and good keeping by Tjiueza kept them out.
In the 30th minute Nghaamwe was sent off for five minutes after a slide tackle into Slabbert, but despite being a man down, Unam continued to pile on the pressure.
Two minutes later Unam received a penalty when Swartbooi?s shot was cleared off the line illegally, but Martin shot wide from the spot.
Unam finally breached DTS? defence in the 33rd minute when Martin scored after a great run by Swartbooi and just after the restart Swartbooi scored the equaliser.
Unam pushed hard for the winner with a Martin shot being cleared off the line in the final minute, but DTS hung on for the equaliser.
The result leaves DTS leading the log with 18 points from 8 matches, but Unam are just two points behind with three matches in hand.
