Bank Windhoek Namibian Open

Namibian Open

Bank Windhoek announced its support towards the Bank Windhoek Namibian Amateur Open Golf Tournament, which will be held at the Windhoek Golf & Country Club on 14 and 15 May 2011. It is the 24th consecutive year that Bank Windhoek is sponsoring the Namibian Amateur Open Golf Tournament.

Since 1935 this tournament has been a major event on the Namibian golfing calendar. Each year the tournament attracts the country’s best golfers.

Approximately 80 golfers from all over Namibia will again pursue top honours when they tee off early on Saturday morning, 14 May. The tournament consists of 54 holes for all the divisions.

“Bank Windhoek is one of our country’s leading sponsors, not only for golf and other sporting events, but also cultural, environmental and social events. We thank the bank and its board for their commitment and support which can only benefit the nation as a whole,” said Hugh Mortimer, the secretary and treasurer of NAGU.

“Bank Windhoek endorses the need for the development amongst all Namibians with specific emphasis at junior level. It is exciting to note that the interest in golf has grown tremendously over the past few years. Also of interest is the fact that five of the top ten golfers on the Namibian Amateur Golf Union Order of Merit are junior golf players. The fact that Bank Windhoek has been sponsoring this event for the past 24 years in a row is tacit proof that Bank Windhoek believes in long-lasting relationships, be it with business or sponsorships,” said Riaan van Rooyen, Head: Corporate Communication and Social Investment.

Golfing enthusiasts and the general public are cordially invited to spend an exciting weekend in the tranquil surroundings of the Windhoek Golf & Country Club – watching excellent golf and often nailbiting finishes at the Namibian Amateur Open Golf Tournament.
