Metropolitan Namibia will sponsor the 8th Annual Michelle McLean Children’s Trust/Metropolitan Golf Day with an amount of N$70 000. This was announced at the launch of the event in Windhoek on Tuesday.
The event, which is in aid of charity, has received support from the business community through entering and sponsoring of holes and prizes.
Metropolitan Namibia will also cover all expenses of the golf day.
The chairperson of the Michelle McLean Children’s Trust, Michelle McLean, said without the business community’s support, it would be impossible to reach marginalised areas as the funds raised from the tournament would directly benefit needy children in areas of health and education.
“It is the eighth year that the Michelle McLean Children’s Trust and Metropolitan have joined hands and presented this Golf Day to raise funds for various projects for the Trust.”
Metropolitan Namibia’s retail executive, Rudolph Himarua reiterated the importance of forging partnerships and teamwork.
“Organisations like the Children’s Trust are critical in mobilising resources and acting as a catalyst in building a brighter future for our children. No contribution is too small as every donation goes a long way in helping the community,” Himarua said.
The tournament will take place on 10 December at the Rossmund Golf Course in Swakopmund. A total of 40 teams will take part.
