Wanderers beat WOB 3-2

Wanderers beat Windhoek Old Boys Social Club 3-2 in an uninspiring Tafel Lager Indoor Hockey Women?s Premier League match on February 23.
Corne du Plessis opened the scoring for Wanderers from a 7th minute short corner, but Lizelle van der Walt soon equalised for WOB.
Madelyn Lessing, back in the Wanderers team after an absence due to work commitments, gave them the lead in the 16th minute after latching on to a long upfield clearance.
WOB turned on the pressure after the break forcing several short corners, but Wanderers? defence held firm. On a rare counterattack, Wanderers forced a short corner in the 31st minute and Du Plessis once again found the net to stretch their lead to 3-1.
WOB forced several short corners in the final minutes of the match, but they couldn?t break through. In the 39th minute Elaine Kruger finally scored from a short corner, but it was too little too late as Wanderers held on for victory.
Wanderers have now moved up to third position on the log with 4 points from 4 matches, while WOB are still bottom of the log with 1 point from 3 matches.
