Gerhard Lotter helped Namibia continue in their winning ways when they beat Sierra Leone on day three of the ICC Africa U19 World Cup qualifiers. He had an impressive 150 runs that brought Namibia to 263 all out after 49.4 overs.
This meant that they beat Sierra Leone by 188 runs after the West Africans were bowled out for 71 runs. Christopher Coombe did the most damage for the Namibians after he collected 4 wickets for 26 runs in 9 overs. Wian van Vuuren had 3/17 after 10 overs.
In another match Kenya beat Tanzania by 100 runs after batsman, Duncan Allan put them in the driving seat when he got 82 runs at Wanderers. The Kenyans were bowled out for 209 after 46 overs.
The Tanzanians on the other hand failed to reach the total after they were bowled out for 109.
Top seeded Uganda were beaten by Botswana in a surprise win. Botswana won the toss and elected to bat and they set a very competitive 212 after their 50 overs. Varun Vijayakumar was the star of the team after he notched up 87 runs for Botswana.
Zambia recorded their first win of the qualifiers when they beat Nigeria by 68 runs. Lawrence Mutale was the best batsman for Zambia with 47 in 67 balls, to give his team 178/9 after 50 overs. Nigeria on the other hand failed to get a partnership together and only managed 115 runs before they were bowled out.
After day three’s results Namibia are leading the standings having won all their matches. Kenya have also won all three of their matches and are second. Uganda are now third after their loss. Sierra Leone and Botswana are fourth and fifth with Nigeria in sixth place. Zambia and Tanzania are seventh and last respectively.
On Wednesday, Namibia will face Tanzania at WAP while Botswana play Zambia at United. At CCD, Uganda will face Kenya while Nigeria play against Sierra Leone at Wanderers.
